Handcrafted By Cameron For You
I have never considered myself an artist in a traditional sense, but rather someone with the innate desire to work with her hands. Even now, as I craft and design - a tried and true metalsmith, torch and all - I can not help but look back and recognize that it was my entrepreneurial spirit as a child in addition to my desire to create that ultimately supported my artistic endeavors. Friendship bracelets, woven in collegiate colors, peddled enthusiastically to friends and neighbors led to home parties with my early beaded works. Those beaded works helped earn me a scholarship which allowed me to attend Savannah College of Art and Design.
At SCAD Savannah, I broadened and honed my artistic and business skills, which lead to my dream internship in New York City in the jewelry design field. The internship soon turned into a job offer, which I ultimately decided to turn down. My entrepreneurial spirit was stirring and becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. So through much prayer and with the guidance of my parents (both successfully self-employed accountant and financial advisor), I launched Cameron Kruse Designs full time in 2013. You will find me most days working in my home studio in Athens, Georgia or at an art show near you. Check out a list of upcoming shows here - I would love to meet you.
Every piece of Jewlery is created by hand, by me, from start to finish
As a metalsmith artist, I fabricate each piece of my collection from start to finish using traditional metalsmithing techniques. All components are made with sterling silver or 14 karat gold-filled* metal which I then cut, solder, form, hammer, and polish. Every clasp, link, and stone, has been handled by me, the artist, with much care. After I give a piece its final polish, I often add natural stones or freshwater pearls to complete the designs. Because each piece is handcrafted, please note that subtle differences may occur, thus adding to each piece's character and charm.
Most of my days are spent working in my home studio in Athens, Georgia. Athen’s close proximity to Atlanta allows for easy access to festivals (list here), restocking of retail shops (list here), and visits with my family. It should be noted that while I am still loyally smitten with Savannah (where I attended Savannah College of Art and Design), I throughly enjoy living in Georgia's next best city. Blanche and Sybil, my feline studio assistants, keep me company while I work and therefore are granted generous napping privileges.
- I have two cats that keep me company while I work, Blanche and Sybil.
- I love true crime and often listen to podcasts while I work, my current favorite is Crime Junkies.
- I am the most type A artist you will ever meet and love making lists. I always have a notebook with me.
- I enjoy morning walks around the neighborhood with my coffee, in a handmade mug of course.
- I learned to knit as a child from my grandmother and have started that up again during the pandemic and typically wind down every night by knitting a few rows of my current project.
